PROTOTYPING

Ultraform’s range of 3D Prototyping services include: SLA & SLS 3D Printing, CNC Machining metals & plastics, Vacuum casting and a wide range of part & surface finishing.

Why Prototype?

There is always pressure to supply business and customers with finished designs in record time. 3D Prototyping is used to bridge the gap of knowledge and reduces design cycles.

Engineers create their designs using CAD software, where it’s difficult to get a feel for the size, form and performance of a part. Therefore having something representative in your hands makes a huge difference.

First of all, 3D prototypes are used to validate designs. They are also great tools for communicating an idea. We can create prototypes that look like the finished product. This means you can get a design in front of stakeholders early.  Consequently you capture changes and implement before committing to expensive tooling and manufacturing processes.

SERVICE DETAILS

We offer a range of 3D prototyping processes that deliver to your requirements. Whether you need to test for function or get parts quickly to meet a deadline.

For realistic product prototypes we often mix and match our services to give you the outcome you’re after. Get in touch and we can walk you through the options.

SLA uses a process called photopolymerization. This is where a laser cures liquid resin into a plastic.

This process lets you print highly detailed components. this is ideal if you requiring tight tolerances, or a nice smooth surface finish.

SLS prints are created by fusing powdered polymers with lasers. This allows prints with no support structures, meaning you can create more complex geometries.

SLS components have excellent mechanical properties and are comparable to injection moulded parts.

Parts are created by machining a base material of metal or plastic. As a result they are inherently strong and durable.

This process is both accurate and repeatable. We can quickly create components that require no investment in tooling.

Ideal for low volume batch production or rapid / 3D prototyping. With the look and feel of an injection moulded parts. However it’s achievable at a fraction of the time and cost.

The Rubber Compression Moulding process is where a rubber material is put under heat and pressure to create a new geometry.

Manufacturing the moulds is very quick. Therefore we can produce prototype rubber parts in very short timescales.

This process is often used to create:

  • Rubber Grommets
  • Seals & Gaskets
  • Rubber Mats
  • Rubber Feet
  • Keypads
  • Buttons

WHY ULTRAFORM?

Our mentality is to provide excellence and deliver on your order.

  • We listen to our customers’ requirements, and find out what is important to them.
  • With our depth of processing knowledge, we foresee the manufacturing pitfalls and autonomously work around them.
  • With 3D prototyping processes the finer intricate detailing can be difficult to achieve. Often requiring post processing. We do this as a matter of course at no extra cost. This means you get the parts you’ve ordered and don’t have to compromise.
